National Grid (Gas Transmission) were successful with there submission to Ofgem for funding through the 2015 Network Innovation Competition. The project aims to reduce the time and cost for a connection to the National Transmission System, from the current 3 years and £2M to less than a year and under £1M, to accommodate the emergence of unconventional gas supplies in the UK market.
Develop a web based customer connection portal
Development of a software platform with geospatial and engineering functionality
Automation of the feasibility study and conceptual report generation
Potential contribution of “Green gas” to total gas demand in the UK
The number of existing Above Ground Installation on the NTS
The length of the pipeline which makes up the NTS
The current length of time and cost for a connection to the NTS
The current cost for a connection to the NTS
Length of time for a CLoCC connection
Cost for a CLoCC connection to the NTS
Aqua Consultants were appointed as a partner to National Grid to develop the online customer connection portal
Project CLoCC has three interconnected workflows. The development of generic design for “plug & play” connection skids, the development of an online visual customer connection portal and the establishment of new commercial processes. Aqua Consultants were appointed as a partner to National Grid to develop the online customer connection portal. The current process for a connection to the NTS is up to nine months and costs in the region of £120,000. Aqua are developing a connection portal, which will match the customers technical requirements and geographical location to the closest suitable connection point on the NTS, providing a cost for the connection whilst automatically generating the feasibility study and conceptual design report.
AQUA are working collaboratively with our client and project partners to ensure the project is successfully delivered and customer benefits are realised. .
